Delta Air Lines, the only American carrier with direct flights to Africa, confirmed that it was banning all lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros and buffalo trophies from its cargo holds.
We worked hard to obtain this ban as we amassed almost 400,000 signatures in support of Chris Green’s online petition. SCI (Safari Club International) wants the public to believe this was an emotional outcry based on the senseless killing of Cecil by the MN Dentist, Walter Palmer. Nothing can be further from the truth. This petition was launched many months prior and had already obtained results from different Airlines by the middle of May 2015.
By the fifth of August, Air Canada, Air France, British Airways, Brussels Airlines, Emirates Airline, Etihad Airways, Iberia, KLM, Lufthansa, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines and Virgin Atlantic Airways had all implemented similar policies to ban the shipment of Animal Trophies.
